I've been busy......

....making cakes again... here are the latest with descriptions below the picture. For my complete collection, visit here.

This cute butterfly cupcake cake was for my niece's 2nd birthday party. I got the idea from cakecentral.com. The colors matched the decorations and it's my new favorite because it's so cute!

This was a true experiment of a cake for me! Well, I guess just the icing was... it was caramel and I had never made caramel before. It was WAY sweet, hard to spread, but tasted good, so I hope my friend Beth and her family liked it! It was for her son's 3rd birthday. The "baseball" in the middle of the glove was a cupcake---cute huh? Not my idea though. Beth saw a picture of this cake in a magazine and gave it to me to see if I could make it. I hope to make this again in the future cause it was also just so cute (and very boyish)!

This cupcake Hawaiian-themed cake was my idea (for once!) The original is on my other website. I used the hot pink, orange and yellow to match my friend Heather's party decorations.. for her daughter's 9th birthday. The flip-flops, shells and spiral suns are all candy melts. I usually put crushed graham crackers around the shirt so it looks like sand, but since this had to be delivered, I left that up to Heather to complete!!

Another patriotic cake, this time for the "Hallquist Reunion" that took place over the 4th. This monstrous cake had three different flavors: strawberry, yellow, and chocolate so you could have a taste of all 3!

Wedding

This past weekend I got to leave my boys behind and go to a wedding in NC. A college buddy of mine got married and it was a GREAT excuse for me to visit with my closest friends from college with whom I still keep in contact with. We now live all over the place (one in Seattle, one in the DC area and 2 in NC) and every once in a while, get to visit with all of us there. I guess the "every once in a while" is when one of us gets married since the last time we were all together was at my wedding almost 3 years ago! There are still 3 from our group who are single and we keep making predictions as to who's next. Another fun thing I got to do was to visit my college campus, HPU, in High Point, NC. I hadn't been back there since I graduated (yes, way back 11 years ago!!) and there were LOTS of changes. I hardly recognized some things. It was a fun weekend and even though I missed my boys, I was glad I got the chance to go. I hope someone gets married soon so we can visit all together again!!

Balancing Act

Tonight, as Stone was finishing his dinner, he decided to get creative with his grapes and sippy cup.. the picture speaks for itself! How does he know to do these things in the first place???? It's not like we show him!!! He is too funny!!

Bargain!

Saturday, my SIL had informed me that a local grocery store had a huge sale going on. You could pack up a box (good sized box at that) with whatever items the store had put out that they needed to get rid of and buy the whole box for just $6. Yes, that's right, just six dollars! So, I was going to go, but being as I'm not a morning person, my sweet hubby went in my stead. He came back with 3 boxes full of things we use. So, all that's in the picture below is what we got for just $18.00! That's a pretty good deal, considering that when we guestimated how much all that would have cost at normal price, we probably saved around $150.00!! So, if anyone's who lives here in the area is interested in knowing which store, email me and I'll tell you. They do this once a month!

So this is a little late, but here are some pics of us dressed in our red, white and blue. Don't we look great??!! (Be sure to scroll down past this post to another one as I'm playing catch-up.)

One shoe wonder and 2 points!

Here's a few pics that were taken about 2 weeks ago now, that I just got around to posting. The first shows Stone trying on one of my shoes... hee hee... the rest are pics showing off Stone's basketball abilities in the bathtub with a new toy from Aunt Minnah... I think he likes it!!
